After the magic and mayhem of 2019's A Midsummer Night’s Dream, RoughCast return to the Mediterranean for more supernatural Shakespearean shenanigans. The Tempest is a comedy of magic, betrayal, love and forgiveness. Cast adrift on an island inhabited only by a wildman, Caliban, and nature spirit, Ariel, Prospero, a powerful magician and one-time Duke of Milan plots revenge on those who cast him and his beautiful daughter, Miranda, out of their home. In the space of two action-packed hours, Prospero has to use all his powers to shipwreck the conspirators and bring them to justice, fend off murder plots and rebellions as well as keep a fatherly eye on the burgeoning romance between Miranda and the son of his old enemy. ... Further postponement

Whilst the new Rule of Six remains in force, affecting amateur productions, we will not be able to rehearse for this play or indeed any production requiring more than a tiny cast.  We are still committeed to staging this play as soon as conditions permit. ... Go to production page

Our production of Macbeth scheduled for this autumn has had to be postponed due to the Coronavirus outbreak.  This is a great sadness to us as it was intended to mark an important event.  RoughCast will turn 20 this year and putting on Macbeth would bring us full circle as it was the first play we performed.  Because of other commitments, it will have to be delayed until spring 2022, but at least that gives us plenty in the pipeline.  And if you can't bear waiting for another RoughCast Shakespeare, you have the Tempest to look forward to next summer! ...
