Bringing Challenging Live Theatre to Rural East Anglia

RoughCast Theatre Company: Venues

RoughCast performs in a variety of interesting places and spaces in rural venues. Part of the challenge of any touring production is performing on stages and in spaces that are very different.

'Macbeth' was performed in 4 village halls/community centres, a tent on a bowling green behind a pub, 2 High Schools, a restaurant, a professional theatre and a barn and green behind a private house. The contrast between the largest and best equipped (Norwich Playhouse) and the smallest (St. Peter's Brewery), was great: so much so that for the latter the lighting technician (Arthur Brown) operated the lights from a stool in the fireplace!

Other plays have been performed in a castle, other village halls, schools, barns and professional theatres. If you think your village hall / community centre, theatre, school, castle, back lawn, town centre, swimming pool (?) etc would welcome a performance by RoughCast Theatre Company, please email us via the Contacts page. We will follow up all possibilities and are particularly keen to reach rural areas not currently served by live drama, and/or perform in those places that have first class disabled access.
