Bringing Challenging Live Theatre to Rural East Anglia

RoughCast Theatre Company: Broken Glass

Arthur Miller

It is 1938 and Sylvia Gellburg, a middle-aged wife and mother living in an affluent part of New York, suddenly loses the use of her legs. Is the paralysis somehow linked with her apparent obsession with newspaper reports of the Nazi attacks on Jews 3,000 miles away in Berlin? Or is the cause to be found closer to home, in her own life and particularly her relationship with her husband, Phillip, a man who is ill at ease with his own Jewishness? Broken Glass is an emotionally charged and compassionate play by one of the 20th century's greatest dramatists. RoughCast's production is directed by David Green who also directed Arthur Miller's All My Sons in an acclaimed production for the same company in 2003.
