Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure
After the summer frolics of Twelfth Night the comedy takes a darker turn as RoughCast present a story of sexual and political intrigue in renaissance Vienna. Problems begin when the Duke of Vienna apparently abdicates and hands over power to the strict and moralistic Duke Angelo. Angelo’s draconian quest to clean up Vienna claims some high profile victims when the noble Claudio is sentenced to death for getting his fiancée pregnant. Meanwhile Isabella, Claudio’s virtuous sister, puts her plans to enter a nunnery on hold and sets out to free her brother. In doing so she is aided by a priest, who turns out to be the Duke in disguise and who has remained in Vienna to keep his eye on Angelo.
